A full-scale after-school program is different from a club or a sport, where a child stays late for one activity. If they’re going to stay at school until their working parents can pick them up at 6 PM, kids should get to move their bodies, delve into arts and music and explore new possibilities, like learning from a chess champ. All that and more is packed into an afternoon at Manhattan's PS 51.
