All courses were developed with the needs of the after-school workforce in mind, and meet a number of Department of Health training requirements.
This three-day continuing education course was created for after-school staff members who are interested in learning basic information about children with special needs, including those who are mentally and physically impaired. You will examine the conditions, needs, and services provided to exceptional persons with impairments that affect intellectual, physical or sensory abilities. This three-day continuing education course was created for after-school staff members whose classrooms include youth between the ages of 10 and 18. You will receive an overview of the different stages of youth development, learn strategies to manage behavior and discover new ways to create program enhancements and plan lessons. This three-day continuing education course was created for after-school staff members who are interested in developing an informal science program at their agency or learning how to create fun and engaging science activities You will explore scientific theories and learn about inquiry-based science in after-school settings. You will also discover how to structure different projects and adapt science lessons to meet the needs of all types of student learners, especially those that are bilingual.
